I've got a couple to-do lists on the go and this is a new one. This is the "to-climb/ski" list...

The Vancouver100 is an annual run/race from Deep Cove to Horseshoe Bay and back on the Baden Powell making up 100km of technical trail running.
Unfortunately I'm too lazy/busy to repost all the photos, I've already thrown them up on Facebook.

Heather Gray from Compass Digital Media on Vimeo.
I was very saddened to learn on Saturday that a good friend and amazing woman passed away November 26, 2010. It made for a very long day after running 25km.
I can only say great things about Heather, she was so much fun to climb with and she helped immensely when Rob Hill, my climbing partner, and I were starting and outdoor clothing & equipment company. I still wear a concept jacket she designed and made, it's lasted 6 years and still looks new.

A buddy of mine just asked "do you have any recommendations for getting started running, what time/distance should we do?"

Admittedly a couple things that happened today frustrated me and I wasn't in the greatest mood tonight. I have a rule, after learning the hard way, about posting anything personal so I won't go into details.

I finally got Run Keeper up and working. At first I was trying to use another app because it works with the Zypher Bluetooth Heart Rate Monitor but the other app wouldn't work with my phones GPS.

In my experience, one of the biggest barriers to top athletic performance is yourself (both mentally & physically). The mind is actually simple to take care of, just believe in yourself and don't be too hard on yourself. The physical, your body on the other hand, is much more difficult.

Short post tonight. I just did a quick 12k road run in 45 minutes, I'm pretty happy with that pace. I'd like to average 10km/h over 100km (i.e. run 100km in 10 hours or less) so maybe I'll start working up to that.
Tomorrow, a post about supplements and tricks to stay healthy while training hard. The day after, Tips & Tricks For Race Day.

I stopped by The Running Room and picked up some IT band straps, new Waist Belt bottles, and some energy food for running the Hanes again. I always like The Running Room because A.) it's Canadian, and B.) they're knowledgeable and friendly. I had a bit of a negative experience this time because the sales woman was pushing really hard for me to buy a $40 roll of foam that's suppose to help stretch out IT bands and other things. When we left the store, Annie actually asked "are thy paid commission?"
I decided to go for a quick run and try out my new IT wraps. I knew there was thunder & lighting forecasted but it was very cool running with lighting right over head. Then it stared raining really hard, which I don't mind if I'm close to home and can take a hot shower when I get back. Somewhere during the run I lost my house keys. I was planning to only do 10km but did an extra 5km look to see if I could find them, needless to say I couldn't at 9:30pm on a rainy night. I guess I was too busy thinking about the lost keys and thunder & lighting because I stepped up on a curb and caught my foot and went down hard.
